Privacy Policy

Fridg is an app for tracking your fridge, pantry, and bar, and for planning meals with the help of an AI assistant. This policy explains what information Fridg collects, why, and what happens to it. The short version: we collect what the app needs to work, we don't sell your data, we run no ad trackers, and you can delete everything.
1. Account data
When you create a Fridg account, we collect your email address and a password (or a sign-in token if you use a third-party sign-in). Accounts and app data are stored with Supabase, our backend and database provider. Supabase stores this data on our behalf and does not use it for its own purposes.
2. Inventory data
The core of Fridg is your inventory: the food and drink items you add, their quantities, locations (fridge, pantry, bar), expiration dates, and your grocery lists and meal plans. This data is stored in our Supabase database and is visible only to you — and, if you join a shared kitchen, to the other members of that kitchen.
3. Photos and AI processing
Some Fridg features let you take photos — for example, snapping a grocery receipt or a shelf so the app can recognize items for you. When you use these features:
- The photo is sent to Anthropic (the company behind the Claude AI models) via their API, which analyzes the image and returns a list of recognized items.
- Photos are used only to power the feature you invoked. Per Anthropic's API terms, API inputs are not used to train their models.
- Conversations with Foraj, the in-app assistant, are also processed through the Anthropic API to generate responses.
Don't photograph things you wouldn't want processed — the app only needs to see your groceries.
4. Recipe data
Recipe search and nutrition information are powered by Spoonacular. When you search for recipes, your search terms (which may include ingredient names and dietary restrictions you've set) are sent to Spoonacular's API to return results. Your dietary and allergy preferences are stored with your account so recipes can be filtered for you.
5. Allergy and dietary preferences
If you set allergy or dietary preferences, we store them so recipes and meal plans respect them. We treat this as sensitive information: it is used only for filtering food suggestions and is never shared with anyone beyond the service providers described in this policy, and only as needed to do that filtering.
6. Instacart linking
If you choose to send a grocery list to Instacart, the items on that list are shared with Instacart to build your cart. Your Instacart account, checkout, payment, and delivery details are handled entirely by Instacart under Instacart's own privacy policy. Fridg never sees your payment information.
7. Notifications
If you enable notifications, we use your device's push notification service (Apple or Google) to send you reminders about expiring items and low stock. You can turn these off anytime in the app or in your device settings. Push tokens are stored with your account solely to deliver these notifications.
8. Analytics and tracking
Fridg uses no third-party analytics, no advertising SDKs, and no ad trackers — in the app or on this website. We don't track you across other apps or websites. If we ever add privacy-respecting analytics, we will update this policy first.
9. Who we share data with
We share data only with the service providers named above — Supabase (storage), Anthropic (AI processing), Spoonacular (recipes), Instacart (if you link it), and Apple/Google (notifications) — and only as needed to run the feature you're using. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with advertisers.
10. Data retention and deletion
Your data is kept as long as your account exists. You can delete your account and all associated data at any time:
- In the app: Settings → Account → Delete Account.
- By email: write to anikaaftabllc@gmail.com from the email address on your account.
Deletion removes your account, inventory, photos, preferences, and shared-kitchen memberships from our systems. See the account deletion page for details.
11. Children
Fridg is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your region), and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
12. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top and, for significant changes, notify you in the app.
